12. Seacoast of Vidzeme and Pjarnu.

The Gulf of Riga and Gulf of Pjarnu had an important role in the history of ancient Livs and Ests – these were two folks, who inhabited the seacoast since ancient times.

Itinerary of excursion:

In a morning we departure from Riga. Driving ahead Brivibas street, which always has been the most important part of transportation from Riga to Baltic States and Russia. The road importance in a nation’s history. The Seacoast of Vidzeme. Inhabited places by the ancient Livs. The construction history of the seamen and resort villages in the seacoast of Vidzeme. Vecaki, Gauja, Lilaste, Pabazi, Saulkrasti – historically constructed as the resorts of Latvia. Zvejniekciems, Skulte – the ancient seamen villages. You will see historical places of Vidzeme seacoast – Dunte, Salacgriva. Ainazi – the shipping development centre of Baltic and Russia in the 19th century. Krisjanis Valdemars – one of the founders of shipping school. Acquaintance with Ainazi and the museum of Ainazi.
Pjarnu – the shipping centre of Estonia in the 19th century.
Apr. at 13:00 – we arrive in Pjarnu. Then we will have an excursion in the city. Acquaintance with historic places. The Old Pjarnu – one of the oldest towns in Estonia. The construction of Livonian Order castle in Pjarnu. River Pjarnu – border, which naturally divides town in two parts. Pedestrian excursion of the ancient places of the town. Pjarnu as the resort history started in the 19th century. Estonian resting ground and seacoast visit. Pjarnu today is the largest resort of Estonia. Pjarnu is also the place where lived famous Estonian poet Lidija Koidula. The museum acquaintance.
After excursion – a free time. In the summer time it’s possible to relax on the beach or to go round the museums. At 15:00 – acquaintance of aqua park.
At 18:00 – departure to Riga.
At 22:00 - arrival in Riga.
