2. Pskova - Novgoroda (3 days / 2 nights)

The history of Novgorod is visible in beautiful fortifications of the city. The Kremlin of Novgorod, Sophia Cathedral. Novgorod is one of the oldest Slavic cities. Pskova is another striking example of history in north-eastern Russia. An olden fortress in Izaborsk. Pskova’s – Pechorian monastery nicely supplements plenteous cultural heritage in this area.

Itinerary of excursion:

1st day.
Departure from Riga early in the morning. Road goes in the direction of Aluksne. At 12.00 – arrival in Pskova, visitation of Pechorian Orthodox Monastery for men. Monastery still functions. You will see unique architectural ensemble, which has preserved colour schemes of Russian nation. It is the fortress of the 14th century. 2nd day.

3rd day.
Breakfast.
Visitation of an open-air museum of wooden architecture – Vitoslavlitsy. You will be able to participate in ancient Russian traditions. In the afternoon way back to Riga.
You will be in Riga late in the evening.
